Uh, probably not at all seeing as all of my e-mails are pretty much either Facebook notifications or stuff from colleges. |

I have a tendency to keep things bottled up. I certainly don't share much with my family or friends. If something's wrong I'll usually tell Allison. I can't imagine better support than that. |

[Dec. 28th, 2009|10:12 am] |
I've always wanted to learn another language. Right now I only know English, a tiny bit of Spanish, and even less French. I think if I had to learn any language it would be Spanish. It's a really cool language; I love the way it sounds. Latin would be pretty cool, too. |

I have a tendency to get "the SAD" during the winter months. I usually have bouts of mild depression year round, but it really gets to me then. I keep on telling myself I need to get one of those lamps. But I usually just end up riding it out until spring comes around. |

| The Sherlock Holmes movie |

| | Crush 40 - Revvin' Up | ] | So I watched the Sherlock Holmes movie last night. It was pretty good, the story was engaging, it was visually great, and I loved the score. Now I went in knowing it wasn't going to be that loyal to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's stories, so I can't really complain about that. However, if I were to...
Sherlock was a total gentleman in the stories and in the movie he was almost a sort of deviant. I thought them having a dog was sort of unnecessary. They made Watson almost too smart, he wasn't dumb by any means but in the movie his deduction almost rivals Holmes. They made Irene Adler this criminal mastermind, and the only person to ever get the better of Holmes, but in the story she was just this lady, and while she did get the better of Holmes, she wasn't the only one. And the whole love interest is the only thing that really grated me, Holmes was sort of a misogynist, and while he did admire Irene Adler, I don't think there was much romantic feeling. Inspector Lestrade did pretty much whatever Holmes told him to; in the stories he was sort of arrogant and didn't really believe in Holmes's methods. (I did like that they used Lestrade instead of another inspector, however. He worked closer with Holmes with any other inspector, and they used him the most in the Granada series with Jeremy Brett) Holmes's disguises were way too obvious; in several of the stories even Watson didn't recognize him. ALSO, in the movie Watson was just kicking the crap out of everybody, while in the stories while Holmes knew a good deal about combat, Watson relied more on his revolver.
But even so, it's a good movie, and the end sets it up pretty obviously for a sequel, so I'd recommend it.
Also, Robert Downey, Jr. unfortunately employs the American method of portraying a British person of "talk really fast so no one can understand what you're saying." |

| Writer's Block: Forever young |
[Dec. 26th, 2009|10:10 am] |
While it certainly would be pretty cool (oh my god no pun intended) I don't think I'd go through with it. Getting old is one of the things I've always looked forward to. You get to be all wise and dignified and you can do pretty much anything because hey who's gonna call out an old person? Besides, staying young and watching everyone you care about die would suck. Unless they all did it to, which might be a different case. But still. |

| Writer's Block: The One Movie Everyone Should See |
[Dec. 25th, 2009|09:44 am] |
This is a pretty hard one. I think I have a few, but the one that keeps coming back is Lonesome Dove. It's actually a miniseries that aired in 1989, starring Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones, along with Danny Glover, Diane Lane, and Anjelica Huston. It's pretty much the essential western. There's a cattle drive, a hardcore bad guy, and Robert Duvall is sassy. It's like 6 and half hours long, so it's probably not for one sitting, but it's worth it, and the book is masterfully written by Larry McMurty.
Robert Duvall's other westerns, Open Range and Broken Trail, are definitely worth looking into as well. Open Range has one of the best gunfights in a western, and Broken Trail is about saving a group of Chinese girls from prostitution. |

Batman.
He would probably tell me to go to a place with a skylight and break through it and beat up criminals.
Seriously though I mean you'd think they'd learn not to meet in buildings with skylights. |

I usually don't stress about it too much. I usually just try and remember something they mentioned or stuff they could use. Now when it comes to Allison, yeah I freak out pretty bad, especially since neither of us ever really have an idea of what we want for a gift. But I can usually come up with something. |

My love, Allison. She is the most important part of my life. She is everything to me. You can take away everything of my life, as long she's still there, I'll be complete. I can and will only ever love her. |

| Writer's Block: Smoke screen |
[Dec. 21st, 2009|09:01 pm] |
Well, I think cigarettes are pretty horrible. However, my dad and I both smoke pipes, but that's tobacco which doesn't have any of the nicotine or pesticides or baby tears or whatever else they put in cigarettes. I'm glad that there's so much cracking down on it, but I think as a result tobacco and pipe smoking gets misrepresented, when it's really cigarettes that are the main problem as far as tobacco goes. But, if it stops the spread of them, I'm willing to make the sacrifice. |

| | Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains the Same | ] |
Ya know, it might sound weird and maybe disappointing, but Michael Jackson. He was a master of what he did, he knew his songs perfectly, he could perform them live exactly like they were on the album, and he was one of the most talented performers of all time. From watching This Is It, it's definitely disappointing that he never had the chance to have those last concerts.
Now if we're counting members of bands, I'd go with John Bonham, the drummer for Led Zeppelin. Everyone in that band did what they did perfectly. After his death they broke up, which is a shame, but I really don't think without they would have been the same. They have played one show recently, however, with his son Jason. There were rumors that would reunite, but Robert Plant said he had no plans, and without him, it wouldn't be Led Zeppelin. |

| Writer's Block: Daily Internet routine |
[Dec. 18th, 2009|10:20 am] |
This one features the same thing as the "What's the first thing you do when you log on to your computer" thing, so I'll just do this one instead.
First I check Toothpaste for Dinner and its various branches. Then Live Journal and Facebook, Deviant Art, various webcomics (I won't bore you with the details unless you're interested), Overheard in New York, and from there I'll either watch some Let's Plays or animez. Hooray! |
